Guardianship

Protecting your children

It is critical to ensure your children are taken care of when you cannot be there for them. Though most people think about who will care for the children after they pass away, it is equally as important to consider who will care for your children if you are too ill or injured to do so.

Temporary guardianships, also called standby guardianships, let you choose now who you want to care for your kids if you are temporarily unable to,  all without terminating any of your parental rights.

Planning ahead of time will save significant time, stress, and energy when you are dealing with an emergency hospitalization.

Protecting yourself

What happens if you are  unable to care for yourself? Oftentimes a judge will have to determine who will take over control of your medical care or property. However, you can establish now who you want to be your guardian should that situation arise later.
